Home visits and evening appointments on request
St Andrews Podiatry, established in February 2013, is a private podiatry clinic providing a comprehensive range of foot treatments. Our podiatrists are fully qualified with over 50 years of experience between them.
Podiatrists treat anything from general advice on foot problems and footwear to the normal chiropody procedures for sore feet including:
You will be asked to fill in a questionnaire which will include your details such as name, address, date of birth. To help us diagnose and treat your foot problem we will ask for a list of your medication and medical history. Our treatment includes nail cutting, callus and corn removal. Any other problems such as ingrowing nails, verrucae and skin conditions etc. will also be dealt with at this time. Where appropriate, dressings may be applied. Treatments are finished with a nourishing foot cream massage and footcare advice
Routine appointments are usually pre-booked at 4, 6, or 8 week intervals depending on your footcare needs. This, again, includes the removal of all callus, any verrucae or corns, the cutting of all toenails and treatment is concluded with a foot massage using foot cream suited to skin type.
After an initial assessment we offer this service to patients who require nail cutting only and who have no other footcare needs.
This is also offered for those patients who have a particular problem that needs urgent attention e.g. problematic corn, ingrowing nail.
Please ask if you are suitable for this type of appointment.
Poor biomechanical function of the foot and leg can cause related foot, knee and back problems. During your consultation, your walking is observed, the range of motion within your joints measured, muscle symmetry and strength and the lower limbs are measured for any length discrepancy. We will discuss with you the most suitable treatment to optimise normal foot and leg function. These treatments may include exercise programs, orthosis (inserts for your shoes), foot strapping, padding or heel cups.
Footcare is especially important for people with diabetes to prevent or eliminate problems. Regular footcare from a Health Professions Council registered podiatrist is essential to keep a diabetic's feet in good order. We carry out a series of tests to determine any issues you may have and with ongoing care this helps to prevent or manage any diabetic related problem. Nail and skin care are treated at this session and you will receive written documentation of your assessment.
We offer a home treatment service to patients throughout the local area of St Andrews and nearby towns for patients who find it difficult to access our clinic. Please ask for details.
